Squirrels are the little hoarders in the animal world. They make sure that they have food to last them for the entirety of the winter months which means that they spend most of their little lives hunting, gathering and storing food. They dig little holes 2 to 4 inches deep and bury up to 5 seeds into each hole.

Why is this important? Most of their stored food is eaten, of course, but some of the seeds are forgotten and through these buried seeds new trees are born! It's extremely important, they were created by Gaia for the express purpose of making sure that trees are continuously propagated over and over again. Squirrels are vital to the renewal and propagation of the oxygen giving trees.

Squirrels also eat mushrooms which are important to some plants that depend on mushrooms to grow. The fungus gives water and minerals to plants and then the mushrooms get organic matter in return so life in and of itself is a symbiotic relationship and everything is just as important as the rest. The squirrel eats the mushrooms and then spread the spores back into the earth in the feces so that a new mushroom can grow and continue the cycle.

So, yes, you may see squirrels in your yard, in your attic, in your shed or in a tree but just remember that they have just as much right to exist here as you do. They have a purpose, a job, and fulfill a necessary action for the health of this planet. When the trees are cut down then they do what any sentient being would do, they find shelter where ever they can. They are an intricate part of our ecosystem and deserve the respect that they are do for the selfless and tireless work that they do to keep people breathing oxygen.
